WE ARE GETTING SO CLOSE!! ...a conversation with man that had a Near Death Experience

I am passing this on with permission from DAVIDKAT, who posted this in a well known forum in April of 2009. He is the one who makes the wonderful videos we all love so much.

Last night, I was able to see more of the BIG picture. I just want to share a quick insight. For the past couple of years, it has bothered me that in conference, the Brethren have been relatively silent in warning, giving counsel in preparing for the last days etc. I have prayed and yearned for Samuel the Lamanite-like talks, or President Benson's or Bruce R. McConkie's talks... yet instead we have been getting talks on Faith, on Hope.. on Charity/Service etc..

Homemade Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup

Are you tired of purchasing soups that are filled with MSG? I am. I found this recipe by Tammy.  When I need Cream of Chicken Soup, I whip this up in just minutes.

Homemade Lamps from Everyday Objects

Having the ability to create light without needing electricity should be part of everyone’s emergency essentials. While flashlights are certainly helpful, batteries quickly die out so having a store of candles on hand can provide the light and morale boost that one needs to make it through a dark night or two. But what if you didn’t have any candles available?

Happy to be Chemical-Free...

Today's modern home is loaded with toxic and polluting substances designed to make domestic life easier.

The cost of these commercial, chemical-based products can be high -- long term health concerns for the family, and environmental pollution caused by their manufacture and disposal. In the US, for example, 1 in 3 people suffer from allergies, asthma, sinusitis or bronchitis (US National Center for Health Statistics). Treatment for these conditions should include reducing synthetic chemicals in the home environment.

Mint Candy Recipe

I wanted to make Mint Candy with real food, and products found in my storage. If you store items that you use everyday, and then find recipes that you can make from your stores you and your family will be more pleased with a few treats while living off of your stored foods.

Also, as an added benefit, making your own candy is being provident, instead of purchasing. Remember "Make Easy, Buy Hard". This is easy!

Peppermint Oil - Here's another nugget of great info

One drop of peppermint essential oil on your tongue will keep mosquitoes away. Holly Draper shared the following experience... her husband and son were camping in the High Unitas and both put a drop of peppermint oil on their tongues, offered it to the rest of the group but they all had "Off" etc and declined.

Healing Generations - Truman G. Madsen, “The Temple: Where Heaven Meets Earth”, pages 84-85.

“And, therefore, as you look back at your seventy or so forebears . . . you might recognize that you have inherited the blood of many generations.  And blood may not be a correct word scientifically, but in the scriptures it stands for seed, which means heredity, the inheritance of tendencies, and all of us have them.  You have the blood of this generation, from which we must become clean –

Bake the Bread at 450°F to set the cell walls.

I didn't know this about baking bread, maybe you did. It makes me think of baking pumpkin pies. Because if you don't bake the Pumpkin Pie at
425°F and then lower it to
350°F you've got a Pie that won't set up properly. Hey, I tried it, to see if I could bake a traditional pumpkin pie in my solar oven.

Making Pickles this Year?

It's almost pickle time. I know I'm excited. Last year I made Dill Pickles and we are almost out of the quart jars. They were so good you could just sit and eat pickles. But this year I'm going to double the cases I did last year, and I'm adding sweet pickles to my store.

Are you as excited as I am? I'm going to try two new recipes this year.
