This Nation Shall Endure

Ezra Taft Benson, devotional address given at BYU on 4 December 1973

Humbly and gratefully I stand before you this morning, humbled by the responsibility which is mine as I face this choice audience, and grateful for this great and unique institution, founded by a prophet of God.

As an introduction to what I trust the Lord will be pleased to have me say today, I quote a short paragraph from a memorable prayer given at the dedication of the London Temple by President David O. McKay:

WE ARE GETTING SO CLOSE!! ...a conversation with man that had a Near Death Experience

I am passing this on with permission from DAVIDKAT, who posted this in a well known forum in April of 2009. He is the one who makes the wonderful videos we all love so much.

Last night, I was able to see more of the BIG picture. I just want to share a quick insight. For the past couple of years, it has bothered me that in conference, the Brethren have been relatively silent in warning, giving counsel in preparing for the last days etc. I have prayed and yearned for Samuel the Lamanite-like talks, or President Benson's or Bruce R. McConkie's talks... yet instead we have been getting talks on Faith, on Hope.. on Charity/Service etc..
