Baking Powder looses it pop, bang, and pow too quickly. You just can't seem to use the can before it looses it's ability to give the rise it's supposed too. Also most all of the ready made baking powder contains
Aluminum, which is something I try very hard to keep out of my food.Within seconds you can have fresh baking powder with simple ingredients you already have on hand.
Oooh, Tasty, yummy Blueberry Muffins made with Fresh Blueberries and FRESH Baking Powder!
Baking Powder
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
2 teaspoons Cream of Tartar
1 teaspoon Cornstarch (Optional)
Mix together and you have fresh Baking Powder.
I leave out the cornstarch ... no difference in power. It's is not essential or crucial. It's really just filler.
Now really how much longer did it take to get the Baking Soda and the Cream of Tartar out of the cupboard versus the old can of Baking Powder? A whole two seconds? How much longer did it take for you to add two ingredients versus one?
